The Finnish Venture Capital Association has published statistics on the activity of private equity investors in January-June. A total of €636 million was invested in Finnish companies through 157 transactions. The corresponding figure in 2014 was €270 million.
A single foreign investment accounted for more than a third of the total amount invested in the first half of 2015.
The capital managed by Finnish private equity firms has risen to a record-high level, at €5.8 billion. Of the capital under management, €1.2 billion is in venture capital funds that invest in early-stage companies.
International private equity investors invested €403 million in Finnish companies in January-June 2015, against €35 million during the corresponding period last year. At the same time, international investors exited their previous Finnish investments in the amount of more than €522 million.
"The continued interest shown by Finnish and international private equity investors in investing in Finland is extremely positive, as they build growth and create jobs in businesses even in the current economic situation," says the association's managing director Marika af Enehjelm.
